In our project we aim at improving the (objective) diagnostic methods of sound insulation of building elements. We also want to propose a better suitable single number quantity than the one currently in use to better reflect the perceived (and therefore subjective) annoyance by sound.
In the following examples we show for each sound the frequency spectrum of the unfiltered sound, the sound through a wall with ETICS (external thermal insulation composite system) and the sound through a wall without ETICS. Of course you can listen to the three versions and compare them, but be aware that a lot of computers out there can’t reproduce low frequencies as accurately as we’d wish. For a realistic reproduction of the sounds, we recommend to listen to the sound stimuli on headphones or good loudspeakers. Listen for yourself:
